Learning Jazz Piano

Mission Statement:

To teach jazz theory to music students from around the world. Whether you play guitar or saxophone, the same jazz theory concepts are applicable to your instrument of choice as are applicable to my instrument of choice, the piano.

So if you know the fingerings and technical side of your instrument, but want to learn how to be creative harmonically and or improvisationally, then I’d like to teach you.

Here is a short list of what you can expect to learn:

  • True Circle of 5ths
  • ii V7 I progressions
  • Blues Licks
  • Chord Substitution
  • Diatonic Chords
  • Chord Coloring Techniques

With these and about 8 more techniques you will be able to re-write or arrange songs to make them your own. In Jazz there is an underlying system and when you know that system, or I like to put it, know the code you open up the doors to creativity and excitement.
